Thanks for turning your dial to "The Weekly Dish" radio show each Friday on KAOI 1110Am/96.7Fm, or via our online stream on this page.
:o)
Happy International Women's Day to all my sisters out there! According to www.internationalwomensday.com, International Women's Day has been observed since the early 1900s, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world which saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies. We've come a long way, girls, but there's still a long way for us to go to be treated as equals to men, whether in the workplace, the music and arts world, or in relationships. Strength, confidence, hard work, passion and intellect will set us free. Let us inspire and celebrate with each other today, and every day! :-)
Okay, moving on from girl power moment... Hehehe
Our studio was full of musical friends this morning and lots of interesting conversation, with hint of silly and serious.
Our buddy Shaggy from Q103 stopped in to talk about 107.5 Maui's superstar DJ competition. (Visit http://island1075.com/ for more info.)
Sir Paul Janes-Brown gave us the arts & theatre scoop, and we delivered some of the Maui Weekly's news and views.
Thanks to our studio guests, including cool dude and world-renowned bassist James "Hutch" Hutchinson from Bonnie Raitt's band as well as Alison Mikes and Stephen Dascoulias from Maui OnStage's "SHOUT!" production. I know my co-host Shawn Michael was happy to have another bass head in the studio. I promise to work on those bass shirts. ;-)
All of the bandmembers from the new band, The Kittinger Jump, made it to Wailuku and we ready to rock. Sweet! Happy to have our musical pals Chad Kaya, Chris Sendrey, Michael Russell and Ryan Sawtell in the studio to talk story, and we played a lil teaser of what the hard rock band has been working on. Catch their debut during the Battle of the Bands' second round next Friday, March, 15, at Three's. (Tonight is the BOB's first round at Stella Blues in Kihei. See flier below for details... )
Good luck to our bodacious buddies such as O'ahu's Mike Love and Kings of Spade, along with Maui's MOTHxp, as they travel to Austin for the Red Gorilla fest. They will make Hawai'i proud!
Listen here to today's episode, a talk variety radio recipe with a dash of musical tracks and community news reporting. Peruse the fliers and photos below too to check out what we covered today.
